Where is San Juan Regional Medical Center?
We're located in the city of Farmington in northwest New Mexico, 25 miles from Colorado, 50 miles from Arizona, and 60 miles from Utah.
Describe San Juan Regional Medical Center – briefly, please.
We are a 240 bed hospital with a level III trauma center. We are a not-for-profit, community governed hospital. The first level of governance is the Corporation which is made up of representatives from non-profit organizations in San Juan County. 90 organizations, with two representatives from each organization, are represented on the Corporation, and they meet quarterly. From this group is elected a Board of Directors, the next level of governance. The Board provides direct oversight of hospital operations. Operations are managed by administrative staff under the leadership of CEO and President, Steve Altmiller.
What's the good news about you?
We completed an $83 million expansion project in August 2006 – 72 new private patient rooms, 8 new state-of-the-art operating suites, new cafes (one public, one staff/ physician only), a healing garden, an employee exercise center and lots more. The hospital is architecturally beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. We have an onsite Child Care Center. We're building a new Cancer Center. We're obtaining a 64 slice CT scanner. We operate 6 physician clinics, an inpatient rehab hospital, outpatient rehab clinic and outpatient diagnostic center. We have a PET/CT scanner on premises once a month. We operate an air ambulance service with two aircraft – a helicopter and a fixed wing aircraft.
